What Is a Parental Capacity Evaluation?

A parental capacity evaluation is a formal clinical assessment used in family court proceedings to evaluate a parent's ability to provide safe, stable, and nurturing care for their child. It is distinct from ADHD or autism assessments.

These evaluations are typically requested by attorneys, guardians ad litem, or the court itself. The resulting written report is submitted as part of the legal record and is designed to be thorough, objective, and defensible.
